CLEAR EXPECTATIONS. A SENSIBLE NEXT STEP.
Working together.
A short conversation, a clear plan, and work you understand.
TechEnlight is an independent technology service by Brandon Smith, based in Sanford, North Carolina. Local visits are by arrangement, and suitable projects can be handled remotely. Work is scheduled by appointment.
Start with the problem—or the possibility.
Tell me what is happening, what you expected, and what you would like to change. You do not need a technical diagnosis or a polished project brief. A few sentences are enough to begin.
Sending an inquiry starts a conversation. It does not book an appointment, authorize paid work, or give permission to access your devices or accounts.
Scope and price come first.
Before paid work begins, we agree on the work, timing, and price. The discussion includes any applicable taxes and any parts, travel, hosting, subscriptions, or other paid tools the project needs.
If the work changes, we agree on the revised scope and cost before proceeding with that extra work. Questions about payment arrangements are part of the same conversation.
Access is a separate conversation.
Please do not put passwords, payment-card details, recovery codes, or sensitive files in an inquiry. If device or account access is needed, we discuss what is necessary and how to handle it before starting.
For work involving important files, we discuss the available backups and the proposed changes. Repair and recovery options depend on the device, its condition, and the material available. Some issues need a specialist.
Tools should serve the work.
AI can assist with research, drafting, development, and exploration where appropriate. Its output still needs human review and testing. Tell me about your preferences before work begins, including a human-only approach for writing.
The projects shown on this site are personal work. Illustrations and prototypes are identified so you can distinguish an idea in development from a finished product.
A message stays yours until you send it.
The website’s message builder prepares a draft in your browser. You review it, then choose text or email and send it in your own app. It does not submit an inquiry to a server or collect payment.
You can also contact me directly. Read the privacy notes for more about drafts and received messages.
